Warm air, weak airflow, and unexpected shutdowns can have several causes. A symptom alone does not tell you which part needs replacement.
Our HVAC diagnostics evaluate how your cooling system operates—from the thermostat and electrical components to the indoor blower and outdoor unit. We check relevant electrical readings, airflow, and refrigerant performance to identify the failure and related concerns.
You receive test findings, repair options, and a clear explanation of what the recommended work will resolve.

Notice what changed and when it started. These clues help us investigate the problem, but testing confirms the cause.
AC Runs but Blows Warm Air
Possible causes include thermostat settings, restricted airflow, an outdoor unit that is not operating, or a refrigerant problem.
What to do: Confirm the thermostat is set to Cool and below room temperature. If warm air continues, schedule a diagnostic.
System Will Not Turn On
Power, thermostat, control, or electrical component problems can prevent startup.
What to do: Check the thermostat display and settings. Do not repeatedly reset a tripped breaker or bypass a safety switch.
AC Starts and Stops Repeatedly
Short cycling can involve airflow restrictions, control problems, or a protective shutdown.
What to do: Check an accessible filter. If the cycling continues, have the cause investigated before continuing normal use.
Weak Airflow or Uneven Room Temperatures
A dirty filter, blower problem, restricted coil, or duct issue may affect air delivery.
What to do: Make sure return grilles and supply vents are unobstructed. Tell us which rooms are affected.
Ice on the Indoor Coil or Refrigerant Line
Restricted airflow or a refrigerant problem can cause freezing.
What to do: Turn cooling off and arrange service. Do not chip away ice; thawing alone does not correct the underlying problem.
Water Leaking Inside
A blocked condensate drain, damaged drain pan, or thawing coil can allow water to escape.
What to do: Turn the system off if water is leaking into your home and schedule service.
Grinding, Banging, or an Electrical Burning Smell
These symptoms can involve a motor, loose component, or electrical fault.
What to do: Turn the equipment off and call. If you see smoke or fire, leave the building and call 911.
Cooling Performance Drops While Electricity Use Rises
A change in performance may indicate an equipment or airflow problem. Weather, thermostat settings, and utility rates also affect bills.
What to do: Compare electricity usage as well as cost, and note any changes in comfort or runtime.

Precise Air & Heating services the cooling systems found in Arizona homes and light commercial properties.
Central Air Conditioning
We diagnose split systems with an outdoor condensing unit and an indoor evaporator coil, including cooling systems that use a furnace blower to circulate air.
Heat Pump Cooling
A heat pump also provides air conditioning. We investigate cooling failures involving electrical components, controls, airflow, refrigerant, and reversing-valve operation.
Rooftop and Ground-Mounted Packaged Units
These systems combine major components in one cabinet. We service packaged air conditioners and heat pumps, including rooftop equipment.
Ductless Mini-Splits
We troubleshoot indoor heads, outdoor units, condensate drainage, sensors, and communication or control faults on single-zone and multi-zone systems.
Air Handlers and Indoor Blowers
The indoor fan is essential to delivering cooled air. We check blower operation, controls, and airflow when the outdoor equipment runs but comfort remains poor.
We service all major HVAC brands. Not sure which system you have? We identify the equipment and verify its model and component requirements before recommending work.
1. Know who’s at your door.
Before arrival, you receive your technician’s photo, appointment updates, and a notification when they are on the way.
2. Your home is protected.
We wear shoe covers and use drop cloths to protect the areas where we work.
3. We investigate the failure.
Depending on your equipment and symptoms, testing includes voltage, amperage, capacitor readings, thermostat signals, motor operation, airflow, and refrigerant operating conditions. We check for related issues that could affect the repair.
4. We check applicable warranty coverage.
Before quoting replacement parts, we check the equipment’s manufacturer coverage and explain which charges remain your responsibility.
5. You approve the repair price.
We explain the findings and recommended work. No repairs are performed and no parts are installed without your approval.
6. We verify and document the work.
After the repair, we test system operation. You receive a service report with findings, technician notes, recommendations, and before-and-after photos.
Repair costs depend on the failed component, equipment model, accessibility, and manufacturer warranty coverage. Below are our diagnostic fees and examples of the repairs we perform. After diagnosing your HVAC system, we explain the recommended repairs and provide an upfront pricing for your approval first before any type of work is performed.
Onsite testing to identify your AC problem and explain the recommended next steps. Diagnostic credited towards an approved repair completed during the same visit.
For AC service outside normal business hours. The diagnostic fee depends on call demand and technician availability. We confirm the fee before scheduling.
The outdoor fan moves air across the condenser coil to remove heat. Standard PSC motors use a capacitor and run at preset speeds. ECM motors use efficient electronic controls, with variable-speed operation on some systems. We test the motor, applicable capacitor or controls, and electrical supply before recommending replacement. Cost depends on motor type, equipment model, and warranty coverage.
The blower motor moves air through the indoor coil, ductwork, and vents. Replacement requirements vary between capacitor-operated PSC motors and electronically controlled ECM motors.
Control boards coordinate equipment operation and communication. A board fault can prevent startup or interrupt cooling, but wiring, sensors, and power problems may produce similar symptoms.
Compressor failures and leaking evaporator or condenser coils can involve substantial repairs. We confirm the failure, check applicable manufacturer parts warranty coverage, and explain the cost of labor, refrigerant, and related work. Based on your system’s age, overall condition, repair history, and repair cost, we may also provide a replacement estimate so you can compare both options before deciding.
A capacitor supports the operation of certain compressor and fan motors. A failed capacitor can prevent a motor from starting or running correctly. We test the capacitor and related electrical components, then install the correct rating and verify operation.
The contactor switches power to components in the outdoor unit when cooling is requested. Burnt or pitted contacts or a failed coil can interrupt operation. We check the 24-volt signal and power supply before confirming that the contactor needs replacement.
Your AC uses a sealed refrigerant system it does not use refrigerant up. A low charge indicates a leak or an incorrect previous charge. To locate a leak, we use an electronic leak detector or nitrogen pressure testing, depending on the remaining charge and system conditions. We explain testing costs upfront and quote repairs and refrigerant separately. Adding refrigerant alone does not fix a leak.
A clogged condensate drain can cause water to back up, damage surrounding areas, or activate a safety float switch that stops cooling. We locate and clear the blockage, verify drainage, and inspect the drain pan and any installed float switch. Damaged piping or drain pans are quoted separately. Water damage restoration is not included.
Diagnostic fees cover evaluation; repair work is quoted separately. We explain what each quote includes, any applicable warranty coverage, and whether additional testing or an ordered part is needed before you approve the next step.
Our technicians aren’t paid on commission. We focus on finding what failed and whether a safe, reliable repair can restore cooling. If the system’s condition or repair cost makes replacement worth considering, we explain both options and our reasoning. You get clear recommendations and time to decide without pushy salesmen pressure.
Founded by two brothers who grew up in Arizona, Precise Air & Heating brings more than 50 years of combined HVAC experience and firsthand knowledge of our desert climate. We understand how urgently you need your cooling restored, so we focus on prompt service, accurate diagnostics, and reliable repairs. Our NATE-certified technicians complete ongoing training in AC technology, controls, and repair methods. Every technician is background-checked and drug-tested, and we send your technician’s photo before arrival so you know who to expect at your door.
Before quoting your AC repair, we check manufacturer warranty coverage for the failed part so you don’t pay for a part your warranty covers. We explain any remaining charges including labor, refrigerant, or related work and provide an upfront repair pricing for your approval. Work begins only after you approve it. Every repair includes a 1-year parts warranty and a 5-year workmanship warranty, backed by our 100% satisfaction guarantee.

An AC breakdown does not automatically mean you need a new system. We consider the failure, equipment condition, repair history, refrigerant type, and remaining warranty coverage.
One failed component in an otherwise sound system
A capacitor, contactor, control, or motor repair may be practical when the rest of the equipment is in good condition. We explain whether the failure appears isolated or connected to another problem.
An expensive compressor or coil repair
Compare the full repair price with a replacement estimate. Manufacturer parts coverage can affect the comparison, but labor, refrigerant, and the condition of the remaining components also matter.
Repeated breakdowns or several deteriorating components
A repair may restore operation without resolving other developing problems. We explain what the proposed work addresses and what concerns would remain.
Poor comfort before the breakdown
Hot rooms and weak airflow can involve ductwork, equipment setup, or other home conditions. A new air conditioner alone may not correct those issues.
Repair costs approaching a substantial share of replacement
Review both options before committing. Age or a price percentage alone should not make the decision for you. We help you compare the scope, warranty protection, and limitations of each option.
If replacing your AC is the better investment, we provide a free replacement estimate detailing the recommended equipment, installation scope, and total price.
We do a full heat load calculation to properly size your HVAC system and evaluate whether your airflow and ductwork need any modification's. Financing options are available, subject to credit approval.
Your new system includes a 10-year manufacturer parts warranty, subject to manufacturer terms and registration requirements, plus our 5-year workmanship warranty on the installation.

Answers about troubleshooting, repair timing, refrigerant, warranty coverage, and keeping your home comfortable during Arizona’s cooling season.
Set the thermostat to Cool with the temperature below the current room temperature. Check an accessible air filter and make sure supply vents and return grilles are unobstructed.
Note whether the indoor blower and outdoor unit run, and whether you see ice or water. Share those observations when scheduling. Do not remove electrical covers, bypass safety switches, or repeatedly reset a breaker that trips.
Hearing the indoor fan does not confirm that the outdoor unit or compressor is operating. If the thermostat fan is set to On, it can also circulate room-temperature air between cooling cycles.
If the system is calling for cooling but the house remains warm, we check airflow, indoor and outdoor equipment operation, and refrigerant performance. Warm air alone does not prove you need refrigerant or a new compressor.
No. An air conditioner circulates refrigerant through a closed system and does not normally consume it. A low charge may result from a leak or an incorrect charge from previous work.
We evaluate the system before recommending refrigerant. If leak testing is needed, we explain the method and cost. Adding refrigerant does not repair a leak, and repeated top-offs can leave the underlying problem unresolved.
A first-visit repair depends on the confirmed failure, the correct part being on hand, and the work required. Some repairs can proceed after you approve the price; model-specific motors, boards, coils, or compressors may require ordering. We offer same-day AC service, but some repairs require another visit. Your technician explains the next steps and expected timing before you commit to the work.
A manufacturer parts warranty is different from labor coverage. It may cover an eligible replacement part while leaving diagnosis, labor, refrigerant, shipping, or other charges your responsibility.
Coverage depends on the warranty terms, registration, equipment age, and failure involved. We check applicable coverage and explain what is covered and what you would pay before requesting approval.
Long cooling cycles can be normal in extreme heat. Variable-capacity equipment may also run for extended periods at lower output.
Consider whether the system maintains the thermostat setting and whether performance has changed. Rising indoor temperatures, noticeably weaker airflow, ice, or a sudden loss of cooling deserve investigation. Runtime alone does not tell you whether the equipment is failing or incorrectly sized.
Yes. A heat pump provides air conditioning as well as heating. We diagnose cooling problems involving the compressor, fans, electrical components, controls, refrigerant circuit, and reversing valve.
Tell us whether the problem occurs in cooling, heating, or both. That information helps guide testing. We also service central air conditioners, packaged rooftop units, air handlers, and ductless mini-splits.
Yes. Call (602) 396-0869 for 24/7 emergency AC service and current scheduling information.
The diagnostic fee for after-hours, weekend, and holiday visits ranges from $189–$289, depending on call demand and technician availability. We confirm the diagnostic fee before scheduling. Repair work is quoted separately after diagnosis.
Tell us when the problem started, whether the system still runs, and which areas of your home are affected. We will help you arrange the next step.
